Catherine Clare reluctantly trades life in 1980s Manhattan for a remote home in the small district of Chosen, New York City, after her other half George lands a task training art background at a tiny Hudson Valley university. Even as she does her finest to transform the old dairy farm into a location where young little girl Franny will enjoy, Catherine increasingly locates herself isolated as well as alone.
