In the not-too-distant future, an all-seeing security state conducts "dream audits" to accumulate taxes on the subconscious lives of the people. Mild-mannered government representative James Preble takes a trip to a remote farmhouse to examine the desire for Arabella "Bella" Isadora, an eccentric, maturing artist. Entering Bella's large VHS archive, which has a life time of dreams, Preble stumbles upon a key that supplies him a chance at love-- and also hope for getaway.
