Funny Boy
An adjustment of Shyam Selvadurai's 1994 novel Funny Boy, discovering the awakening of sex-related identity by a young boy called Arjie. As political stress rise to a boiling point between the minority Tamils and the majority Sinhalese, a young child matures in a culture and family members that doesn't embrace difference outside of societal norms. The movie narrates Arjie's battle to find balance and self-love in spite of the absence of empathy as well as understanding.
