After her daddy passes away, Lily moves to the city to live with her stringent auntie. Throughout the day Lily works in her aunt's bookstore, and at night she creeps nearby to design for Richard, a carver with whom she falls in love. A customer of Richard's, Baron von Merzbach, develops a passion in Lily that may not be with the most effective of purposes.
